A plain-language description of the data Anikao needs, why it needs it, and the controls available to you.
Information you provide
When you register, Anikao processes your username, email address, password hash, profile avatar, library activity, comments, reminders, and import requests. Passwords must be hashed by the API and are never available to the website frontend.
Session and device data
Authentication is kept in Secure, HttpOnly, SameSite cookies. The browser stores only non-sensitive playback preferences locally. Operational logs may include IP address, user agent, request timing, error details, and rate-limit events for reliability and abuse prevention.
Third-party services
Metadata may be requested from AniList. Library imports contact AniList or MyAnimeList using the public username you submit. Email verification may use an email delivery provider. Streaming links are obtained from configured upstream providers; their own terms may apply.
Retention and controls
Account, library, community, and security records are retained only as needed to provide and protect the service. Contact the operator to request access, correction, or deletion. Some security logs may be retained for a limited period where legally permitted.
Security
Anikao applies layered safeguards, but no internet service can promise absolute security. Please use a unique password and report suspected abuse promptly.
